2024 Food Trends are Hitting the Table

While we aren’t the trendiest of restaurants, we do appreciate a good fad every now and then, especially when it has potential staying power. Here are a few of the predicted trends for 2024, according to industry experts.

Plant Based Proteins
Even in a region where meat and threes reign supreme, we’ll see a rise in vegan and vegetarian dining options, including plant-based proteins. Plant based, and meatless alternatives are predicted to only grow in popularity during the coming year. With recent advancements in processing, focus has shifted from creating a plant-based product that directly mimics its meaty predecessor, to designing a dish rich in a flavor all its own. Expect to see an abundance of vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes, seeds, and mushrooms in new plant-based protein offerings.

Hyper Local Souring
At FEED, we are no stranger to locally sourced ingredients. We continue to deepen our relationships with our regional vendors and offer more seasonal produce. Expect to see a bounty of fresh, seasonal vegetables appearing in both main and side dishes.

Dining Experiences
Post pandemic years left little room for dining experiences and celebrations. This year is expected to usher a resurgence in spirit paired dinners. From more traditional wine dinners, innovative spirit paired or beer infused chefs’ dinners look to see more experienced based dining. These unique dining opportunities don’t have to be limited to special occasions. Check our website and social media to secure your tickets to our upcoming dinner and drink pairing events in our private event space.

Fusions
The South has long been considered a melting pot of flavors and is no stranger to fusion cuisine. Building on these culinary traditions, we’ll see a rise in dishes that combine global BBQ and Asian influence with southern favorites. Spices may make up a small portion of the dish but pack a punch when it comes to flavor and taste. Look for sweet and spicy sauces or rich and tangy marinades to make an appearance in specials.

Mocktails
Mocktails entered the scene in early 2023 and have proven to be a trend with staying power. With New Year’s resolutions firmly in place, many strive to live healthier lives and limit alcohol consumption, but skipping on the spirits doesn’t mean you have to skip on the celebrations. Non-alcoholic substitutes are on the rise and bartenders are turning their focus to crafting cocktails with more complex, less sugary, herb forward flavor profiles.
